  Safety Precautions for Aromatherapy

     Aromatherapy

With everything these days you have to take some measure of safety especially when you are dealing with oils and aromatherapy. They are safe enough but sometimes you need to take a little extra care. The essential oils are concentrated and they are very strong. So to prevent an accident with the oils such as skin irritation and skin burning, follow the guidelines.

Don’t use the oil directly on the skin. They can cause the skin to burn and when the oils are out there on their won they become photosensitivity. Meaning that this will cause the sun to burn the skin while the oil is applied if the oil is not diluted. You can dilute the oils with water or you can mix them with some grape seed extract. Use only the purest essential oils from the plants that is how you know you are getting the correct things.

You can test the oils to see if they are sensitive to your skin. Some people get a minor skin irritation when these oils even the diluted oil gets on their skin. You may also be allergic and not even know it. You can do a patch test before you use them. Drop a little bit of an essential oil that has been diluted already onto the skin and then wait about 12 hours, if there is no reaction they chances are nothing will happen. Keep the oils out of reach of children and pets.
